You ought to make a Hot Rod Lincoln out of it. Just listen to the song and put it all in. The engine would be one of those big flatheads ford used to put in the trucks and the Lincoln.

ohhh thated be so schweeeettt what motor is in it shawn i mean i know its a small block chevy but a 350 327 283 thems some old lookin valve covers hott daymit boy ya need to move closer so i can come over to play
Posted by: Shawn, October 28th, 2007, 5:32pm; Reply: 13
The motor that is in it is shot . Big time BUMMER cause it is one of the old 300 horse 327 . The guy that put it together from the looks of things built the engine and bolted it to the frame and never put a drop of oil in it because the motor is purty much rusted solid . The oil pan is rusted slam off of it . it might build I dont know hattin got inside it yet but if the insides look anything like the bottom side of the crank or heads ( took one of the valve covers off yesterday ) it prolly a total loss . I know it is stuck .The heads will build and they da gooduns too . Original double hump 300 horse heads but will have to be completely redone . Yeah I toyed with the Flat Head power plant . Dont know if I got the patience for a Flatty though :) More pics to come real soon !!!!

When ya take the heads off have them Magna Fluxed. As long as they aren't cracked and no one has hogged the crap out of them (cut past the point of no return on the seats and vavle guide area) they can be reclaimed.
One of my suppliers has some great trick valves for Chevies that are .030 oversized EVERYWHERE. Stem, head, length everything is biggers. They work perfect for cutting back and reclaiming these old heads. Complete set of hard seats, new guides, and a decking possibly and they will be goodder than new.
Even if the block has rust in it, if the cylindar walls aren't pitted to bad it can be brought back to life too. I don't subscribe to grinding cranks and putting oversized bearings in so I would throw the old one into the scrap pile anyway. AND sence ya scrap that ya might as well put in a 383 stroker.....
OR
Find a flatty....lol
Let me ask around up here. There may be a couple of old Merc or Lincoln flatties layen around.

And............ look to see if it is a 4 bolt main, heavy rods and a steel crank. You may re-coop some money back if it is.
Posted by: Ding, October 29th, 2007, 10:58am; Reply: 16
Yeah for sure Kenny. If your gonna do a 383 you almost have to have four bolt mains.

Pappy leave me alone :) Skoot I have had a L of a christmas vacation . Been slammed brutha . I have purty much done everything else but the Rat . Worst thing was I had to put a hearter core in that dogone dodge . Now you wanna talk bout a job . The steerin column had to be dropped and the entire dash had to come out . If that wuttin bad enough I had to go under the hood and take the computer off the firewall cause there was 2 bolts behind it . Whooo dont never want to have to do one of them again . Ding man if that one goes out in yours grab you a couple heater hoses bypass the core and dump that bastard quick dude !!! Nah I just kiddin but it is a job
Posted by: pappy, January 1st, 2008, 10:52am; Reply: 55
yea brutha suma them jobs r betta off payin someone else

I'm not a Mason even though I'm from a Masonic family, I'm an AMORC initiate. If you become a Mason I encourage you to take an interest in the esoteric side of the order. It's there although I suspect most Masons know very little if anything about it. Hopefully you'll draw a mentor who does know. Initiation is valuable and you should study what it means.

Mack I cuttin agree with you more !!!! Yeah Pappy you right bout that brutha . The only prolem is the shops I checked out wanted 500 biguns labor plus the cost of the core . Plus I was gonna be without my ride for atleast 2 days . Now I aint quiet chitin money so 600 bucks wuttin hardly in da works for me . So I decided that I would git a dear friend to help me and just tackle it myself . You know a fellar can put up with allot of mess for 600 bucks if ya know what I mean . I have a dear friend that has just got his new shop built and not to mention quiet a dab hand with a set of tools !! So we jumped on it had it apart new core in and back together ridin round in 3 hrs . But there were 2 of us runnin wrenches and had our full focus on the task at hand .
