Ding's Workbench / Ground Up Trike Build / Here we go!!
Posted by: Ding, April 5th, 2007, 7:48am
Ok Rednecks here is some gouge on the latest at Ding's Custom Cycle.
I am building a ground up Trike for a dude who has suffered Tramatic Brain Injury. His balance is off so we are just adding a wheel.
Here is what I got so far:
Accurate Engineering 93" PanHead Motor
Prowler 5 Speed Tranny
Bullet Proof 3" Open Primary
Garnner Auto Clutch
Ultima 58mm inverted Front End
AND this pile of iron that needs work....

That is "Thumper" the QC manager of the shop and he don't think it can be done. lol

Here is the frame. Nearest I can tell it is a 58' straight leg swing arm with the trike yoke welded on. I DON'T like this fab job on the trike yoke so it is history.

I intend on welding on this Yoke. However, I am adding 8 to 10 inches in between the front FL frame and the yoke to get some stability out of it and allow for a two up riding.

QC did say we done good on the box though. This is an original Servi Car box and it is in killer good shape as you can see.
The entire trike is going to be Pearl Black with a pirate theme to it....i.e. "The Black Pearl" from the Johnny Depp movie.
I got a bunch more in my head but I gotta get to work so I will update more later on today and tonight.

Just ordered some HIGH dollar American Wire wheels for it. She is going to have 300's on the back and the rims will have a two inch offset to the outside. It should make them look nice and deep. And due to the rears having 70 spokes I am putting an 80 spoke on the front.
Also going with 6 gal flatsides (only big tanks I could get and I really wanted 7's) with a cat eye dash holding a Dakota Digital speedo/tach combo. I'll make the cat eyes into the turn indicators.
Gotta wait until I get some frame welding done but I am thinking of a 4 or 5 Qt Oil Bag (might have to make that myself too) and I will be painting it so it doesn't distract from this motor and tranny. AND I am kicking around exactly how to install a starter for an electric reverse.

Latest and Greatest from the Trike Build.
Finally got the Accurate Engineering Panhead motor in. 93 incher. Also got the Spyke Five speed Tranny and Primo 3" Belt. Some 6 Gallon Fatbobs showed up and of course the Ultima 58mm inverted front end.
First thing was a 3" stretch in the down tubes and a 2 1/4" stretch in the backbone to show off the motor.

Next was to cut off the old yoke and rebuild the rear tranny frame mount with some meat so that I will be able to weld the new/used yoke on later.

Next was to relocate the front Motor Mount and add some meat there to handle the bigger engine. I reused the bolt up section and beefed the sides with some 2" square stock and shaped it into the frame.

Then the 6 Gallon Flatside mounts went on and I just put the Cateye Dash on them to see how it will look.
Then I mocked it up so I can study the rear yoke problem and thought I would give ya an update....

I'll be worken on the rearend now and figurine out how to make it bullet proof.
Waddaya thunk fellas?
