Hell I used an Oliver yesterday with a stacker head to unload my lathe and two of my big tool boxes.  It is setten out side the shop as we type.  Pretty redneck for a harley guy to use farmen equipment.  lol

Bummer bout that head CKenny...

And yes it is Black Widow that owns all of Siftons old profiles now.  That is what I have in my Pan.  It is the old Sifton 440 Crusader...Black Widow calls it something else but it is the same cam.

Kewl Kenny.  I would be interested in what he has to say.

I have stewed over those pics ya sent on honing....I think I might have a way to even out the heat build.

I think I will cut some flanges from aluminum to clamp down on the base flanges.  I think the Aluminum will work as a good heat sump and pull the heat away from the flanges.  I am hoping that clamping it on and the fact that it is aluminum it will transfer the heat as well as the cast fin housing of the top part.

What do ya think?

Yep and that is what the problem is Skoot.

The heat from the hone isn't dispersing evenly throughout the cylindar.  The bottom flange that goes into the cases heats up fast and that metal swells.  The upper portion of the barrel that has cast iron and fins absorbse and disperses the heat.

When ya stick a bore gauge in the cylindar to see how the cut is...the bottom will read that it is ok but as soon as the cylindar cools the bottom shrinks and you have a "tight" cylindar.

I think, don't know but it is what I suspect, that is why so many machinist try and tell you that a Harley bore is tapered.  I don't think so!

Bottom line is that this "Tight spot" will lead to accelerated piston skirt wear.  And that is a bad thing.

Yeah and on a block you have all that iron around the cylindars so the heat is absorbed.  Not the case on v-twin.  And an interrupted bore is even more of a b**** (two strokes).

but ya can see the interesting cunundrum this presents.  lol  (I used that word just to mess with ya)

well actuall ya get that on a water cooled engine too just not as exterme   the middle is thin an the top an bottom are thicker so ya hone the top an bottom then wait a few minutes gauge it then finish it

The next generation of night vision is a combination of IR and Starlight.  It is really kewl and AMAZINGLY detailed.  The great thing about this stuff is that the current night vision goggles and scopes can be defeated by most smoke and dust...the new chit with the IR in it as well wont have that problem.  It is some really kewl chit man.

Well Crack, right now we are staying with friends in Heath Springs SC. Can't get into our house 'til sometime in January. That will be outside of Chester, SC.  Both places are about an hour south of Charlotte, NC so if the ol ever needs a shopping fix ......................

Got the Ram fixed.  Wasn't gelled up at all.  The relay for the fuel pump fell off the firewall and shorted out.  Caused the fuse to melt in the holder cause it was a little to big.  Replaced it with a breaker and changed all the fuel filters.  I got two Shawn...one on the tank and then the one on the motor.  Once all that was done just primed her up and away we went.  Still a pain in the a** though.  Oh yeah an I shocked the fuel with some anti gel and Heat to get the water out.  Should be fine now.  Part that really urinates me is that it shot my one day off to lay around and watch some football.  danm.  lol

I had the rubber on my injector pump solenoid get caught in the spring . This happening caused the solenoid not to lock in place like it is supposed to let the relay on the firewall rest . well it burnt out my relay so I had to buy a new one 65 bucks . Well that didnt fix the prolem cause I was still havein to engage the solenoid manually by pushin it up to lock it with my finger so it would crank . So to keep from havein to buy a new one which let me tell ya is 600 big ones took it apart just to look at it and found the piece of rubber that covers it rotted and hung in the spring . pulled it out lubed it a bit put it back and hatten had a prolem since . So take care of that solenoid cause they love the L out um and the dealer is the only place you can get it .

Yep...I got a piston that I keep right out were everyone can see it.  It has a valve stuck in it.  It reminds me not to get to carried away with some of my hairbrained ideas...lol.  So I rebuilt the mill again and blew it up again.  Same thing but the valve didn't stick in the piston this time....it just kinda folded in half.   I quit tryen that combonation of cam and pistons.  lol
