Yep and that is what the problem is Skoot.
The heat from the hone isn't dispersing evenly throughout the cylindar. The bottom flange that goes into the cases heats up fast and that metal swells. The upper portion of the barrel that has cast iron and fins absorbse and disperses the heat.
When ya stick a bore gauge in the cylindar to see how the cut is...the bottom will read that it is ok but as soon as the cylindar cools the bottom shrinks and you have a "tight" cylindar.
I think, don't know but it is what I suspect, that is why so many machinist try and tell you that a Harley bore is tapered. I don't think so!
Bottom line is that this "Tight spot" will lead to accelerated piston skirt wear. And that is a bad thing. |

Yeah and on a block you have all that iron around the cylindars so the heat is absorbed. Not the case on v-twin. And an interrupted bore is even more of a b**** (two strokes).
but ya can see the interesting cunundrum this presents. lol (I used that word just to mess with ya) |

well actuall ya get that on a water cooled engine too just not as exterme the middle is thin an the top an bottom are thicker so ya hone the top an bottom then wait a few minutes gauge it then finish it |

The next generation of night vision is a combination of IR and Starlight. It is really kewl and AMAZINGLY detailed. The great thing about this stuff is that the current night vision goggles and scopes can be defeated by most smoke and dust...the new chit with the IR in it as well wont have that problem. It is some really kewl chit man. |
