Here is my open primary belt guard design.

Currently there are only three that I know of.  This one and the two I am building for customers.

If you would like one just send me a PM.

Ding i have a 3 inch open and use nothing. I like it for a few reasons. One is you can get hurt. two it is a good detirant against others who want to "ride" your scooter. the last reason is it just looks right.

Yep I am with ya on all accounts Nas3car.  BUT I do like the inside guard to keep crap, crud, and corruption out of my pulleys.

That is why I build them.

I never really had a problem with road derbis in the belt. Never had that "rain" problem either that I was warned about. The rain spraying up like off a tire. I think most of it was jelousy.

I run a three inch primo and I like it a lot but I'm a little reluctant to ride
a gravel road because of it.  Ding, I like the look of your setup, how effective
is it?  If you're going to be making them for sale I'm interested or maybe I'll
try to make one for myself.  I've got the guard on top only because it's chrome.

Mack,

So far nutten has ever got into my belt.  I am re-working the front mount to make it a little bit stronger.  It will be machined from 6016 and bolt into the old inner primary holes on the motor.

I got one prototype done and am getting ready to test the crap out of it.

Hey Ding! Nice site, took me a while to find ya tho'... Still interested in that belt guard, but there's a wrinkle: I need it for a 2 1/4" belt, not a three inch.  Is that do-able? It's a Supermax Predator belt, if ya need to see it look here:

http://www.supermax.net/Catalog/Pages/CAT_SEC_1-1-1.asp

When you get a chance, let me know if you can do it, and a ball park on when and how much($).  Thanks,

Kuda,

Glad ya dropped by.

I'll still build the guard but right now things are MAJOR chaotic around me.  Just sold our house, gotta move my shop to Wyoming this weekend, and I still have to hang around here in So Cal with the Marines for a couple of more months so I still have to contend with my day job.

I went back to the drawing board on the front mount for it (mine broke).  I think I have a new way to mount the guard but I just haven't had time to do anything.

If you patient I should be back up and running FULL TIME by August or Sept (I think I might have found a complete motor machine shop to buy).

Let me know.

You have a simple way to mount that contraption??
looks purty spiffy...,what about the outside cover???
i need one...well,i have oneSORTA...,but i have NO WAY to mount the dayum thing...,i guess i need some tabs welded to the frame or sumtin.
What that set up set a fella back???
I run an 1 1/2 belt...,on my SHOVELHEAD...,it sits in a SANTEE frame...,nothing fancy 'bout her...,but i DO need to do something...,tired of the SLUDGE slinging all over my fancy FLAT BLACK paint job...,ya know???

Shovelstein,

The picture of that belt guard was/is in the R&D stages.  I found that the front pulley cover part just broke off so I redesigned the mount for it.  Then I had to do something to my Tranny (can't remember what it was off hand) and that lead me to discover that the rear bracket was in the way to pull the tranny.  I originally had the rear bracket welded to the frame but now I am working on a P clamp that will make the entire affair easier.

I could mount a side cover but I really am not sure where you want it.  Over the pulleys and clutch, just over the pulleys, or close in the center?  My intent with this guard was to keep the rocks, crap, crud, and corruption out of the belt But still give the tough factor of spinning steel hangen out there.

I also need to know what type of lower end...slab side or cone nose?  That will determine what type of front attachment mount I make.

As for price....about a gazillion somallies I guess....lol.  Probably be a buck or two but it will take me a little while to get it made....I am REALLY backed up with spring servicing right now and I do build these from the old exterior guards and some hand made parts so they take me a little while.

Let me know.

I have the "SLAB-SIDE" if ya will...,The "genny" motor.
I ain't lookin to cover the WHOLE belt...,just enough to HELP keep some of the crud and crap from slinging all over the place. i have a belt guard...,a "cage" but same problem...,NO WHERE TO PROPERLY MOUNT IT.
Maybe a UNIVERSAL mounting system????? for BOTH???
keep in touch..,am VERY INTERESTED.
